Dr Tasneem Mayat

Dr. Mayat is a geriatrician with particular interests in perioperative care, comprehensive general medical and geriatric reviews, orthogeriatrics, acute geriatrics, falls, frailty, capacity, and cognition assessment and management.

Dr Mayat is passionate about patient-centered and complete care of seniors living in the community, independent living and residential care. She aspires to support patients in maintaining their quality of life and provides holistic aged care medicine, where physical and psychosocial wellbeing are equally prioritised. She understands that a practical and considerate approach is necessary when caring for our elderly and feels gratified to see positive outcomes and immense satisfaction from her patients and their families. 

In addition to presenting her research at several national geriatrics conferences, Dr Mayat was also the recipient of the Western Sydney Local Health District Quality Assurance Award and has completed the Clinical Excellence Commission Executive Leadership Program.

Dr Mayat is a part-time staff specialist Geriatrician and Co-Director of the geriatric service at Campbelltown and Camden Public Hospitals and is a VMO at Southern Highlands Private Hospital. She is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Society for Geriatric Medicine and has sat on their committee for two years as Advanced Training Representative. Dr Mayat’s various teaching roles as a clinical lecturer with the University of Western Sydney is testament to her keen involvement in the training of medical students.

Dr Mayat was awarded her Medical Degree from the University of Natal in South Africa in 2007. She completed her specialist training in Australia, working at both Westmead and St George Public and Private Hospitals. She lives with her husband and young daughter in the Macarthur region.
