Friends and colleagues were proud to share Jenny Harper's delight when Judges announced at the Southern Highlands Business Awards for Excellence 2013, that our own Chief Executive Officer / Clinical Services Manager had been awarded Business Woman of the Year.
"The Business Woman of the Year Award recognizes a woman who has demonstrated a desire for her business to be the best in its industry. The successful nominee demonstrates a high level of drive, energy and passion. She is at the top of her game and respected as a leader in her field."
"The winner of this award shows innovation, is hardworking and a leader in her field and also in her community. She has strong financial management skills and has grown her businesses successfully. She sees her work as more than a job; sees opportunities to make a difference for her staff, clients and the wider community. Jenny Harper is a wonderful example of what all businesswomen should aspire to in their own careers."
Jenny was employed as the CEO at Southern Highlands Private 17 ½ years ago to build and commission the hospital. Jenny took to this task with great commitment and passion, setting out to achieve the provision of an accessible health service and ensure that Southern Highlands Private became an integral of the part of the community, attracting specialist doctors and staff, becoming a significant employer and assist in growing a robust regional community.
Jenny attributes this achievement to establishing a strong committed senior management team, a skilled workforce and a safe, family friendly and flexible working environment. At Southern Highlands Private we have developed a 'can do' attitude, which has seen the ongoing expansion of the hospital.
Jenny has received many awards and accolades throughout her career including a Paul Harris Fellow [an International Rotary Foundation Award] for contribution to the wellbeing of community in 2012. Her natural leadership skills have been well utilised. She was a mentor for Ramsay Health Care's 'Future Leaders' Program and established a mentoring / leadership structure for young inexperienced managers within Southern Highlands Private.
Jenny has come a very long way since commencing her nursing career at Sydney Hospital Nursing Training School in 1980 and we feel very fortunate at Southern Highlands Private that her travelling, work and life experiences brought her to the Highlands giving us all the opportunities to share and fulfil her ambitions for our area, families and community.
Congratulations Jenny. All of us at Southern Highlands Private are confident that there is still lots of wonderful achievements and triumphs to come, and we all look forward to being part of it.
